RA8P1 AI Microcontroller
Candidate for:2025 World Electronics Achievement Awards - Microcontroller/Interface
The RA8P1 series represents Renesas Electronics' first-ever 32-bit AI-accelerated microcontrollers (MCUs) integrating the high-performance Arm® Cortex®-M85 (CM85) core with Helium™ vector extension and an Ethos™-U55 NPU. This series delivers 256 GOPS of AI performance, breakthrough CPU performance exceeding 7300 CoreMarks, and advanced artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities within a single chip, enabling support for voice, vision, and real-time analytics AI applications. Manufactured using an advanced 22nm ULL process, the RA8P1 MCU is available in single-core and dual-core configurations, with the dual-core variant incorporating an additional Cortex-M33 core.

The RA8P1 MCU integrates a high-performance CPU core, high-density embedded memory, multi-channel external memory interfaces, and an AI-optimized rich peripheral set. The series offers single-core and dual-core versions in 224-pin and 289-pin BGA packages, addressing diverse application requirements across broad markets. With built-in security element-like functionality, advanced cryptographic security IP, immutable storage, and tamper-proof protection, it enables truly secure edge AI and IoT implementations.

To streamline and accelerate development, the RA8P1 MCUs are supported by the Flexible Software Package, a comprehensive set of hardware and software development tools, and RUHMI - a highly optimized AI software platform providing all necessary tools for AI development, model optimization, and conversion, fully integrated with e2 studio.
